Monday Morning: L’Oreal Colour Riche Nail Polish

Happy Monday!

Now that spring has descended upon us, my bright nail polish colors have been in full effect (currently Essie’s “Turquoise & Caicos”). I’ve tucked away the deeper reds, the dark grays, and the sultry purples and replaced them with happy, cheerful colors.

I stumbled across the Colour Riche collection from L’Oreal over the weekend and fell madly in love with the color selection. They have every color I’ve ever wanted. As always however, I’m dubious of the quality of anything other than Essie and OPI but I’m willing to give this a shot because it’s $3 cheaper and the colors are beautiful. Oh, the colors!

On top of the $3 savings, Ultra is currently having a sale on L’Oreal products: buy one, get one 50% off + the $3.50 Ulta coupon. At that price, I’m DEFINITELY giving it a try. The real question is: will I walk out of there with ALL of these colors?

Clockwise left to right: “Now You Sea Me”, “Penthouse Pink”, “Check Me Out”, “L’Orange”, “Club Prive”, “Tweet Me”, “Sweet Nothings”, “Walk On The Beach”

Daily Inspiration: Colour Lovers

There’s nothing I find more inspirational than colors. It inspires my work, wardrobe, and the inside of our home. When I feel down, bright corals instantly cheer me up. When it rains, shades of green perk me right up. Browns reminds me of coffee and chocolate. And sometimes, poo.

I needed a little inspiration over the weekend for spring and summer: what to wear, what to buy, and in what colors. Naturally so, I went straight for kuler.adobe.com and colourlovers.com which are my two go to sites for these types of things.

The colors above are the ones that jumped out at me almost instantly. Minty greens, pinkish corals, and terracottas are going to take over my closet and nail polish rack soon.

Monday Morning: Reed Krakoff Handbags

I’ve been on the hunt for my next new bag. As I’ve said here, I’m not really in the market for “mainstream luxury” like a Chanel, Gucci, or what not. Meh. I want a nice, simple, quality bag that will last me through the years. I’m quite bored of the Givenchy Nightingale bag; I’ve had that for 3 years already.

That’s when I stumbled across Reed Krakoff.

His bags are classic and simple, sophisticated, and look like they could last a long time. It definitely caught my attention. I haven’t thrown it over my arm yet but you’ll probably find me perusing the aisles over at Neiman’s this weekend.

Does anyone have any recommendations that are similar (classic, simple, sophisticated)?

Clockwise from top left: “Boxer”, $1,290; “Mini Shoulder”, $590; “RDK Hobo”, $1,290; “Atlantique Tote”, $1,490

I’m still obsessed with Lauren Conrad. Her style is classic yet still trendy, laid back yet still sexy, casual yet still cool, and she always manages to have a fresh face on.

Here’s a sneak peak of her photo shoot in Glamour’s May issue. If this doesn’t get you excited for spring, I don’t know what will.

Monday Morning: Caldrea

I’m late to the party on this one. Two years late. But as they say, better late than never.

If you read my Four Things post last week, I mentioned that I had bought a leaf diffuser on clearance at Target and threw away the packaging before I even looked at the brand.

While browsing the candle aisle at Target yesterday during my Sunday shopping excursion, I took notice of similar packaging to my diffuser sitting on the shelves in the form of candles.

After a little Googlin’, I found out that Target worked with Caldrea to release their Essentials Collection , available in stores.

With scents like Citron Ginger, Green Tea Verbena, Herbs de Provence, Hibiscus Yuzu, Orchid Violet, Vanilla Lemon, and Water Lily, this brand has definitely shot up to second place right underneath Method products.

Friday Roundup: Four Things

Another Friday! I felt like only a day ago that I was sitting on my couch watching The Voice and Smash.

Here are the things that have made me happy since last time.

I walked past this ceramic diffuser on the clearance shelves at Target. “Buy me!”, it screamed. Of course, having an affinity for smelly good stuff, I bought it.

Brandy, Abbie, and my sister-in-law Monica, at the Fashion Freakout show at The Mohawk. Fun times.

When I shop online, there always comes a point when I start grasping for websites to browse even if that means kohls.com. I always enjoyed looking at the pieces that Lauren Conrad designs for her collection with Kohl’s and most of the time I’m unimpressed. Other times, I stumble across something that I actually like (especially her shoes). This contrasted chiffon blazer (on sale for $45) was one of them. It’s perfect for spring!

After much research and about a year of consideration, I took the dive and bought La Mer’s Creme de la Mer and the Refining Facial Mask. It’s been working marvelously so far and I am so glad I ended up buying it. Hopefully my pockets are deep enough to support such a habit.

My brother and cousin are coming to Austin today and will be welcomed by beautiful 80 degree weather. Happy Friday, everyone! I hope you have an amazing weekend.

Sephora x PANTONE Universe™

Sephora teamed up with Pantone to release a limited edition collection that glamorizes the color of the year, Tangerine Tango, which was released a couple of days ago.

The designer in me is jumping with glee!

The color is beautiful, rich, and screams “summer”! Looking at the palette makes me wish I was sitting on a beach sipping on a mojito.

I think my favorite would be the nail polish set and the gorgeous tangerine brushes. The lipstick on my complexion probably wouldn’t work out, nor the eyeshadow palette.

The products range in price between $16 and $68. Check it out: Sephora x PANTONE Universe™

Obama Campaign Nail Polish

April Fools’!

Not.

It looks like the Obama campaign has teamed up with Richard Blanch of Le Métier De Beauté to create these patriotic red, white, and blue mini polish sets. It’s obvious that by releasing these, the campaign is trying to lull the fashionista voters.

This is a part of their Runway to Win product line and will run $40 for the trio.

I, personally, would rather just go buy red, white, and blue by Essie for $8 a pop if I really wanted those colors (which I won’t).

Covet or Leave It: Sky-High Platforms

I’ve remained quiet the couple of weeks only to break silence to express my abhorrence for these platform shoes! I’m kidding. About the silence, not the shoes.

I’ve spotted these types of platforms awhile back not thinking too much of them. Now they’re popping up like weeds all over the e-commerce websites I adore so much. There are many things that are much worse but that doesn’t make these platforms any better. I’m not exactly sure why I cringe at them. I think it’s the mere height of them and the chunky platforms; or, maybe it’s because I picture gigantic bell bottoms and color-tinted sunglasses. Oh, and peace signs.

This is a trend I think I’ll pass on.

From clockwise left to right: Report Signature “Rumson”, $175; Jeffrey Campbell “Elizer”, $139; Elizabeth & James “Bax”, $265; KORS Michael Kors “Jacinda”, $325

Ready, Steady, Gold: H&M Spring 2012

Models Abbey Lee Kershaw and Josephine Skriver, captured by Terry Richardson, sure are making whites and golds look extremely desirable for spring.

I saw a few of these pieces in stores when I was in New York but unfortunately, I didn’t walk out with anything from H&M. Sad face.

Friday Roundup: Four Things

I can’t believe I’ve been on a hiatus for nearly 3 weeks. Does time fly or what?

In those 3 weeks, I’ve managed to travel to New York, get a raise at work, reorganize both living rooms in our house, make amazing new friends, be on a reality television show, and throw a small BBQ at our house in celebration of our new front landscaping. Color me exhausted.

But don’t fret dears, I plan on coming back strong. Well, right after SXSW at least. For now, here’s a Friday Roundup post because I am so glad the weekend is here.

I am loving the color of our new front door, which was repainted for the show along with the entire house. It used to be a Shrek green color that I thought I would be sad to part ways with, but can live without it now.

I love billy button flowers! I was on a search for them for awhile until I spotted them at Central Market. They’re now front and center in the kitchen.

Friends I so dearly miss that I was able to see on my last visit to New York. (Thanks to Gina and Deb who let me bum around on their bed/couch) I miss everyone already.

As I mentioned in the last post, the upstairs sitting room is always in flux. We picked 2 of these crazy comfortable Petrie chairs from Crate & Barrel to go with our Room & Board couch. We still need a nice coffee table and faux cowhide rug to go underneath. Stay tuned. :)

Happy Friday, folks! Hope you have an amazing weekend.
