Friday Roundup: Four Things
Another Friday! I felt like only a day ago that I was sitting on my couch watching The Voice and Smash.
Here are the things that have made me happy since last time.

I walked past this ceramic diffuser on the clearance shelves at Target. “Buy me!”, it screamed. Of course, having an affinity for smelly good stuff, I bought it.

Brandy, Abbie, and my sister-in-law Monica, at the Fashion Freakout show at The Mohawk. Fun times.

When I shop online, there always comes a point when I start grasping for websites to browse even if that means kohls.com. I always enjoyed looking at the pieces that Lauren Conrad designs for her collection with Kohl’s and most of the time I’m unimpressed. Other times, I stumble across something that I actually like (especially her shoes). This contrasted chiffon blazer (on sale for $45) was one of them. It’s perfect for spring!

After much research and about a year of consideration, I took the dive and bought La Mer’s Creme de la Mer and the Refining Facial Mask. It’s been working marvelously so far and I am so glad I ended up buying it. Hopefully my pockets are deep enough to support such a habit.
My brother and cousin are coming to Austin today and will be welcomed by beautiful 80 degree weather. Happy Friday, everyone! I hope you have an amazing weekend.
Friday Roundup: Four Things
I can’t believe I’ve been on a hiatus for nearly 3 weeks. Does time fly or what?
In those 3 weeks, I’ve managed to travel to New York, get a raise at work, reorganize both living rooms in our house, make amazing new friends, be on a reality television show, and throw a small BBQ at our house in celebration of our new front landscaping. Color me exhausted.
But don’t fret dears, I plan on coming back strong. Well, right after SXSW at least. For now, here’s a Friday Roundup post because I am so glad the weekend is here.

I am loving the color of our new front door, which was repainted for the show along with the entire house. It used to be a Shrek green color that I thought I would be sad to part ways with, but can live without it now.

I love billy button flowers! I was on a search for them for awhile until I spotted them at Central Market. They’re now front and center in the kitchen.

Friends I so dearly miss that I was able to see on my last visit to New York. (Thanks to Gina and Deb who let me bum around on their bed/couch) I miss everyone already.

As I mentioned in the last post, the upstairs sitting room is always in flux. We picked 2 of these crazy comfortable Petrie chairs from Crate & Barrel to go with our Room & Board couch. We still need a nice coffee table and faux cowhide rug to go underneath. Stay tuned. :)
Happy Friday, folks! Hope you have an amazing weekend.

What a week! It feels like it’s been dragging on, which tends to happen when you have your eyes set for Friday. Why Friday? Our new couch gets delivered today for the den area! We moved our Room & Board couch up to the formal living room, where it’s better suited.

This room is nowhere close to done, but the excitement is due in part to the fact that it’s been sitting empty since the day we moved in. The couch and the rug are the only things final about this room. All else is in flux. Let’s hope we can get it figured out soon.

I picked up these cute boots from Zara to go with all of my casual outfits I’ve been wearing recently.

I’ve switched out my old Naked palette with the Naked2. It’s been great so far!

Last but not least, a picture of my handsome husband and his silly face now graces the edge of my desk inside an super nice mid-century-esque frame I scored at Target!
Happy Friday, folks! Hope you have an amazing weekend.

Happy Friday everyone!
I have been in the most chipper mood since I received amazing news yesterday. I can’t spill the deets, but it has made me one happy girl jumping for joy and feeling ridiculously lucky.

I picked up these nice aromatherapy candles at Target a couple of days ago that smell amazing. Peaceful, which is Lavender and Eucalyptus. Happiness, which is Sparkling Yuzu and Lime. They have a few other ones and they all awesome. All of them come as candles and diffusers. I’m probably going to go back for the others because they’re just that nice. What makes it even better is the great branding and label design.

Stripey straws waiting by patiently for the perfect party! I am such the sucker for anything colorful and cutesy. (You can purchase them for yourself here!)

My necklace that I purchased on Etsy about a month ago has finally arrived all the way from Israel. I needed a new everyday necklace that would pair well with the one I wear now, which is a tiny star. Here’s the same similar tiny heart necklace.

A printed photo of Cooper that I am in love with is now framed and ready to hang. I print all of my photos from Mpix.com. They’re super affordable, quick and the quality is great.

I haven’t been shopping much lately. We’re trying to tighten the strings on our budget in hopes that we’ll be able to furnish the gigantic empty room at the front of our house.
Because of that, I haven’t been compelled to splurge. After all, I’d rather have dope chairs to sit in even if I have to sit in it with an unfashionable, outdated shirt.
Here’s what I just added to the closet.

A nice skull blouse, most likely inspired by Alexander McQueen but at a tiny fraction of the price. From LuLu’s, $41

Shawl collar blazer in ivory that’s long enough to wear with a nice top, leggings and booties I picked up for $29.80 at Forever 21. It is very, very similar to a blazer I wanted at Top Shop that was $130. Crazy, right?

I’ve been obsessed with chevron for awhile now and I was also desiring some color to add to the recent gloomy days in Austin. I came across a colorful, chevron lightweight scarf at Forever 21 for under $10. Score.

While on my Forever21 shopping spree, I also picked up this which I am sure is a complete knock off of Kendra Scott. But hey, I’m on a budget and $12 sounds perfect.

Happy holidays to you and yours! Before I hit the road to spend time with family and friends, I thought I’d wrap up with my four things this week.

Gifts under the tree awaiting transportation.

In time for guests and as a present to ourselves, we purchased a new dining table that can now seat four people. You have no idea how exciting this is!

The faux pine garland we have atop our mantel in all of it’s glory. I’m only bragging because I had to fight for it being there. I’ll let you try and guess why.

Branches hand picked from our backyard have been home to a lovely set of hand carved wooden snowflakes from a wonderful Etsy seller, TimberGreenWoods.
Be safe, everyone. I hope you all enjoy your holidays. Much love, yo!

It’s Halloween weekend, the weekend I have been waiting for since last weekend!

The pattern of my Halloween costume. Can you guess what/who I am?

I purchased this Babycakes Cakepop Maker to help mass produce cake balls MUCH easier. I want to go ahead and assume that it tastes better too since you don’t have to mix in extra icing to make the balls. It’s going to be a cake ball factory in my kitchen tomorrow to prep the mummy cake pops for the party.

I’ve been waiting to wear plaid all year. I was able to find a shirt a few days ago that wasn’t the thick flannel material. I’ve been dying to layer it with my chambray shirt.

Spooky! I put up spiderwebs and spiders on the corner by the door hoping that it’s enough to scare at least the little kids. But I have to admit, it even creeps me out.
Happy Halloween, everyone. And pleases stay safe!

It’s Friday, Friday, gotta get down on Fri… just kidding. (Damn you, Rebecca Black!)

Say hello to Mr. Deerface. Although he has a fragile cardboard body, he has a very gentle soul. He’s been keeping me company while I work.

I came across this bronze + glass keepsake box with a crystal knob at Marshalls for $19.99 and had to have it. I love adding unique items on top of my bookshelf and seem to move things around quite a bit.

Oh my candy! I’ve already filled a bucket full of candy and Halloween is still a week away. This makes me contemplate whether or not I put it out for the kids or for myself.

Rarely do I shop at Kohls. Actually, let me rephrase that. I never shop at Kohl’s unless I’m forced to. I discovered the comfort of Lauren Conrad for Kohl’s line of shoes when I was on a business trip and in dire need of something to wear to a meeting other than beach sandals. I grabbed a pair and ran. Soon after, I fell in love with the style and comfort so this past weekend, I went back for more and escaped with a pair of these super comfortable black suede pumps. Score!

It’s the beginning of my favorite time of year. The time when houses are laced with fake cobwebs and plastic spiders. Just kidding, I’m not much into exterior decor. What I do love is the abundance of pumpkin, the smell of cider and pies, the falling leaves, the warm hues of color, the string of holidays lined up in a row which give me the best excuses to stuff my face and not feel guilty.

My glitter skull, currently hanging out in my office on my bookcase, wearing a pair of gifted headphones.

A travelling “Boo” sign which is currently hanging on the light in our dining area greeting company as they walk through the front door. What you don’t see is the adorable Frankenstein bowl sitting below it waiting to be filled with candy.

I put away the teals and replaced it with dark shades of brown and purple.

It was time to rearrange the order of my closet and prioritize the long sleeve blouses. Goodbye tank tops. Until next year, my darlings.

After much consideration and failing to hunt down a large bag of Sour Skittles, I decided to put regular Skittles in my ‘gumball’ machine. It’s quite a ripoff right now, as I haven’t figured out how to make it free and for every quarter, you only get 4 pieces. Shucks.

A recently purchased gold, pearl and rhinestone cuff that actually fits my wrist.

I love stumbling across good finds at discount store. I wouldn’t have enough energy to express all of my love and enthusiasm for Home Goods. This orange fan was picked up at Marshall’s down the street from our house. It has a wonderful vintage look to it and only put me back $19.99! Score!

There’s nothing better than being inspired by the things around you. I decided to purchase the Holstee Manifesto poster for it’s strong message. Do what you love, life is short.

A vintage glass dish, a gift handed down from my mother-in-law, now holds my current favorite nail polish colors: Turquoise and Caicos, Mint Candy Apple, Mink Muffs, a protein base coat and of course, Seche Vite.

Worn down heels from the LC for Kohl’s line, which have replaced my high heels. These are a lot more comfortable to walk around town in, without looking too primped up.

A handful of sheer blouses waiting to see the first signs of fall, from Zara, Urban Outfitters and Forever 21.

I’ve bought about 150 of these velvet hangers, which replaced all of my mismatched old wire hangers. They’re probably the best hangers I’ve ever had! Nothing has slipped so far.
